Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR)

Active since: January 2014
Target: Banks in the European Union
Goal: Stabilise and strengthen the banking system by making banks set aside more and higher quality capital as a cushion against crises. The new rules should also foster a convergence of supervisory practices across the EU. 

This is the European Law for all EU countries to centrally arranged adhere to most of Basel III.

It is related to the CRD which is the European requirements to the individual countries to work out the remainder of Basel III
